We are proud to announce a powerful new partnership with Malaria No More UK, in pursuit of driving global and domestic action to end malaria within a generation.

Whilst huge progress has been made over the last two decades, malaria is increasingly facing a perfect storm of challenges, including insecticide and drug resistance, economic crises, funding shortfalls and climate change. But we can fight back.

A window of opportunity to save millions of lives and get back on track to eliminate and ultimately eradicate the disease is ahead of us. Never before have we had such a powerful set of tools to fight malaria: from next generation mosquito nets and new antimalarial treatments to the new vaccines rolling out across countries in Africa. And right now, malaria scientists in Africa and across the world are working together to develop the game-changing innovations that will get rid of malaria once and for all.

For our mission to succeed, the vital tools and treatments must reach those who need them most which requires funding and political commitment. Through our new partnership, our two organisations will work closely together to generate increased political will and incentivise the deployment of international and domestic funding to help those tools reach those most in need.

At the core of the partnership will be a strengthened, public facing campaign led by African voices, designed to encourage greater ambition in the fight to end malaria. As well as elected leaders, the campaign will incorporate and engage the next generation of youth activists with the malaria fight, highlighting the impact that continued existence of malaria has on the life chances of infants, children and young people. 

Developing our relationship

Over the past decade our two organisations have worked side by side, with notable successes in securing and showcasing leadership commitments to tackle malaria through the London Malaria Summit in 2018 and the 2022 Kigali Summit for Malaria and NTDs.

As individual organisations, our relationship has always drawn on our comparative strengths. ALMA, a coalition of 55 African Heads of State and Government, plays a pivotal role in driving accountability, resource mobilisation and action for malaria outcomes and progress across Africa. Simultaneously, Malaria No More UK (MNM UK) have long delivered creative, disruptive communications and targeted advocacy to unlock vital funds and catalyse action needed to reach zero malaria. Malaria No More as a UK based organisation galvanises and helps coordinate key UK-based science organisations, pioneering cutting-edge innovation to defeat malaria.

Building on these capabilities, we will now further develop our relationship and work together to amplify the voices of affected communities and strengthening the connection between African leaders and the global community of donors to the malaria fight – especially as we approach the Global Fund and Gavi replenishments in 2025. By raising malaria up the global agenda, we will work to ramp up both domestic and global funding to build a healthier future for everyone.

Together, we can turn the tide against malaria, to save millions of lives, and create a safer world for generations to come.
