Duties and responsibilities
- Lead the communications team
- Lead ALMA’s external communications
- Lead the implementation of ALMA’s Communication Strategy
- Lead the development and production of media placements, working with local and international media specialists as appropriate
- Lead the communication efforts in high level events including the African Union summits, the UNGA, World Malaria Day celebrations as well as stand-alone events such as CHOGM
- Lead the tracking of policy makers’ social media feeds that includes references to malaria
- Communications Support to country End Malaria Councils. The Chief of Communications will support country End Malaria Councils and End Malaria Funds in the design and implementation of their malaria communications strategies. These strategies will include advocacy for additional and sustained resources from the government and the local private sector; disseminating success stories in malaria elimination, including lessons learned from implementing the malaria scorecard management tool, as well as ensuring that communications are integrated into the Zero Malaria Starts with Me campaign. Key activities will include:
- Providing guidance to the Council/Fund secretariat staff on the development and implementation of their communications strategies;
- Mentoring Council/Fund secretariat staff in communications support
- Documenting and disseminating best practices in implementing country scorecards, end malaria councils and resource mobilisation.
- Website and Knowledge Platform
- Participate in the ALMA website co-ordination task team and support the scorecard knowledge hub, ensuring key activities and developments in malaria, scorecard accountability tools, and ALMA are documented and disseminated.
- Any other activities as requested by the ALMA Executive Secretary
- Reporting: The Consultant will report to the ALMA Principal Director
