DIRECTOR GENERAL OF WHO RECOGNIZES ALMA’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE DECLINE OF MALARIA IN AFRICA

On May 23rd, during her opening address at the sixty-ninth World Health Assembly in Geneva, Director General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Margaret Chan, highlighted ALMA’s important contribution to malaria decline in Africa.

At the beginning of her speech, Dr. Chan remarked, “Africa in particular can celebrate the 60% decline in malaria mortality, especially since the African Leaders Malaria Alliance, supported by partners, did so much to make this happen.”

ALMA will continue to play an important role in the fight against malaria, as African countries prepare themselves for the road to malaria elimination by the year 2030.
