On November 24th, ALMA participated in a side event on RMNCH Scorecard Best Practices during the World Health Organization’s 65th Regional Committee Meeting for Africa. The meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Dr. Kebede Worku, State Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Dr. Felicitas Zawaira, Director of Family and Reproductive Health at WHO AFRO.
Dr. Triphonie Nkurunziza of WHO AFRO provided a comprehensive introduction followed by country presentations from Ethiopia, Madagascar and Ghana. Ethiopia emphasized the importance of political as well as technical engagement. Madagascar highlighted the importance of using existing systems and decentralizing the scorecard approach. Ghana shared their experiences of action tracking. All countries gave examples of actions taken. ALMA Senior Coordinator and Country Liaison, Joyce Kafanabo also provided the scorecard workshop summary.
Overall the event was a huge success with over 130 guests in attendance.
