ALMA Participates in the “Africa Malaria Strategy: Accelerating Towards Malaria Elimination in Africa" Consultation in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

The transition from Millennium Development Goals to Sustainable Development Goals should sustain the gains we have made in reducing disease burden and put us on the path towards malaria elimination as advocated in our Africa 2030 agenda. During the World Malaria Day celebrations at the Africa Union Headquarters, the Chairperson of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance and Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, His Excellency Hailemariam Dessalegn made a call for the continental body to develop an African Roadmap to eliminate malaria by 2030.

A meeting to develop this roadmap was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 28 – 30 September 2015 and was attended by malaria experts from Africa Union member states, WHO officers from WHO Headquarters, regional offices and country offices as well as technical officers from the AUC, ALMA, and partners.
